Extra note: The PUBLIC copy of a 990-PF and Sec. 527 entities will not exclude the donor names or addresses due to the obligation of disclosure of the 990-PF specific rules, and the process above will not remove them. Export the return and print CLIENT copy to PDF directly out of CCH Axcess Tax: Insert the PDFs into the client’s appropriate year document library in DMS. Apply the electronic E-File barcodes in DMS for both the CLIENT copy. CLIENT copy may need to be modified: If Schedule A produces a report for excess contributors, remove the report. Move extensions to be behind page 1 of the 990. If you file a 990T, make sure a copy of the 990T extension is included with both the federal 990T AND with the IT20-NP. Special DMS steps when efiling the 990T (As of 2020 the 990T MUST be electronically filed-and a checkbox may be required for the first year filed under electronic filing inputs to tell Axcess to do so) Print the 990T form 8879 efile authorization page separately and save to DMS as “990T efile form” under the 1100 section. Using the barcode application in DMS, use the dropdown for “filter” to fine the 990T job, or apply the 990T barcode to the single page. It will be different than the full 990, as there should be a second job set up in PE for the 990T. If one does not already exist, please add the job in PE. Update Practice Engine accordingly: Confirm that all job information is filled out correctly in PE. It is important to have all applicable roles filled out. Delivery information should be filled out prior to FORWARDING the job to Signature Review. Jurisdictions should have already been added to the job in PE. Prepare the 990-PF Attorney General filing copy Indiana Private Foundations. Save the DMS template letter name “990-PF-IN Attorney General Transmittal and Letter” to the client’s DMS. If the 990-PF is for a trust with more than $500,000 of assets you will use the DMS template named “990-PF-IN Section 30-4-5-12(b) statement and Transmittal letter” instead. Open and update the letter for the client’s information Open PUBLIC copy above and add the transmittal letter to the PDF. Some other states also require that a copy be sent. The trust statement above is only for IN, but we want to make sure preparers confirm whether a state filing is required and whether the client is taking care of it or they want KSM to do so.
